2010 China International Tourism Commodities Fair concluded yesterday. Compared to previous one, this fair’s scale was further enlarged, and it transformed from government-oriented mode to “government-oriented plus market-operating” mode. Among 1,585 firms at the fair, “market-operating” firms made up 34.25% of the total, with domestic and overseas purchasers exceeding the number of 8,000. It was learned that 2.769 billion yuan of trading volume was achieved at the fair. As a new exhibition sponsored by the government, the China International Tourism Commodities Fair has been successfully held for two straight years, and it showed a robust growth momentum. It was learned from the Organizing Committee that 2.769 billion yuan of trading volume was achieved at the fair, up 17.3% from the previous fair, with visitors surpassing the number of 100,000. At the CITIF Summing-up and Commendation Meeting, Member of the Party Leadership Group of National Tourism Administration and Director of the Department of Arrangement and Finance, Wu Wenxue spoke highly of this fair that was held in a ceremonious, warm, multi-dimension, open, safe, orderly, efficient, and consummated manner, and the fair also vividly mirrored the “Gather Commodities, Create Business Opportunities, Keep Pace with the World Expo, Improve Tourism, Promotion Innovation” exhibition theme. China Yiwu International Commodities Fair resembles a graceful girl of noble birth for its proficiency in diverse sectors, and CITIF can be likened to a charming girl of humble birth for its attraction. This year, CITIF is more professional and demonstrative and it plays a guiding role. Snacks and tourism souvenirs from 31 provinces (cities and autonomous regions) were exhibited at the same platform CITIF. While walking into the CITIF, visitors would have an overall knowledge to the entire China. In particular, pavilions like “Beautiful Jiangsu” and “Colorful Yunnan” left a deep mark on visitors’ memories. Director of the Market Development Office of Quzhou City Tourism Bureau Pan Tugen, who partook in the fair for the second time, said that they had organized an exhibition team consisting of more than 140 persons. “We participated in the exhibition in the daytime and made conclusion at night”. Mr. Pan believed that compared to previous one, this CITIF was further improved in commodity grade, design philosophy, and service level. At the CITIF, lots of ordinary commodities, through innovation and design, were upgraded to tourism commodities, and their prices accordingly appreciated, which drew high attention from visitors. For instance, Changzhou Exhibitor Jiang Guoping, adopted new techniques and materials to design wooden combs usually worth 3-5 yuan into accessories and ornaments, which can be used by star-level hotels and scenic spots, and some combs’ prices even hit tens of or above 100 yuan. Mr. Jiang signed several orders at this CITIF. In addition to domestic tourism commodities, the CITIF also exhibited more and more overseas commodities. At the CITIF there were totally 367 booths (up 198% from previous year) for exhibitors from 31 countries and regions, and 7,156 foreign trade merchants from 91 countries and regions like Pakistan, Japan, and Brazil participated in the fair. Among 82 trade teams there are 56 overseas teams. Meanwhile, tourism commodities like tourism equipments, souvenirs, and outdoor supplies received warm welcome from purchasers, and their trading volume hit 1.263 billion yuan, making up 45.6% of total trading volume, a year-on-year increase of 46.5%. Local elements were fully exhibited at the CITIF, such as wooden sculpture, ATV, and green native products etc. in Jinhua Pavilion. Yiwu Outdoor Tourism Supplies Industry Association participated in the exhibition, and its 50-plus member enterprises took up nearly 200 booths, which was eye-catching. Chairman of the Yiwu Outdoor Tourism Supplies Industry Association Wang Huiping said: outdoor supplies sector is a promising industry at the inception phase, and it contributed nearly 1 billion yuan of trading volume for Yiwu market last year. Through the CITIF, we expect to develop more domestic markets. At the First CITIF, some enterprises like Xibeihu Special Vehicles Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Giant Horse Entertainment Equipment Co., Ltd. achieved handsome profits, and this year, they participated in the exhibition more actively. Beijing Yuanye Company’s mobile wooden house was identified as “Star Product” at previous CITIF, and it was still ordered by many purchasers this year. In addition, Zhejiang Xingmei Electric Car Co., Ltd. (literally translated) also made enormous profits, with trading volume hitting more than 33.70 million yuan. The CITIF is becoming more and more attractive, and it has become a lucky place for local tourism departments to conduct introduction and promotion. During the exhibition period, Sichuan Tourism Department exhibited 47 key tourism projects worth 18.8 billion yuan. Magistrate of Xiuwu County of Henan Province Chang Hong led the exhibition team in person to promote the Yuntai Mountain Tourism Resort, and he also expected to have further cooperation with Yiwu City in tourism products R & D and market development. It was also learned that in view of more optimized supporting services and security means at the exhibition, the National Tourism Administration had awarded Zhejiang Province Tourism Bureau and Yiwu City the “Special Contribution” prize, and Yiwu Landscape Tourism Management Bureau and the Zhejiang Commodities City Group were respectively honored the title “Eminent Service”.
