These days, Hannah Wang, a staff from Yiwu Foreign and Overseas Chineses Affairs Office, was moved by the story of Namibian ambassador who kept his promise.
Not long ago, H.E. Mr. Leonard Nambahu, ambassador of the Republic of Namibia to China visited Yiwu on invitation and Hannah Wang was responsible to receive and accompany him. H.E. ambassador was an amiable, easy-going and friendly man, who left a deep impression on the staff. While visiting an artwork booth in Yiwu International Trade Mart, H.E. ambassador was very curious when he saw more than 100 various kinds of small value currencies of different countries displaying on the counter. According to the shopkeeper’s introduction, all these currencies were from their clients or from the foreign guests who visited their booth. H.E. ambassador looked over all these currencies very carefully but didn’t find Namibian currency, therefore he felt a little pity about that. The shopkeeper also expressed the idea that he yearned for collecting Namibian currency for a long time but failed to have one. Hearing that, H.E. ambassador promised that he would give Namibian currency as a gift to the shopkeeper for displaying when he was convenient.
Half a month later, Hannah Wang received a call from ambassador’s secretary. The secretary said that H.E. ambassador was very busy these days, but he still remembered his promise and had sent the Namibian currency to her. H.E. ambassador hoped Hannah could help him forward it to the shopkeeper. The next day, Hannah Wang received the currency by EMS and sent it to that booth at once.
