It has been the 13th year of Yiwu’s exhibition industry since 1995 when the first Yiwu Fair was held. The Fair was called “famous and quality new products show” without official authorization. The trade show was upgraded by the State Council to be the exclusive international fair of daily consumer goods in 2002. Even the founders of Yiwu Fair wouldn’t imagine that the fair would become one of the most famous fairs in China ten years ago.
The new center is built just beside the current venue (Yiwu Meihu Exhibition Center) of Yiwu Fair
Yiwu Meihu Exhibition Center, the current venue of Yiwu Fair, was fisrt used in 2001. It has played an essential role for Yiwu exhibition industry. There are fairs hold almost every month in the center. As more and more exhibitors come to the fair, the center with its 1500 booths, is no more capable to meet the demands of enlarging Yiwu fair. Statistic shows only 4 applicants out of 10 can get a permit to attend in Yiwu Fair.
Therefore, a new exhibition venue project was started in June, 2008 to help Yiwu exhibition industry get progresses. The new center was designed with a capacity of 5256 booths and 10 exhibition halls. It is planned to be finished before Yiwu Fair 2009 and become the main venue of the annual fair.
