The Yiwu Logistics Park has been very busy in these days despite the cold weather. Cranes and trucks have been working day after night, making noise around the clock.
Gong Xian, who is responsible for the construction of Yiwu Logistics Park, told reporters that they have accelerated their construction since Zhejiang listed Yiwu as one of the five testing grounds for modern logistics industry in the middle of December.
The Central Economic Work Conference in Beijing last month has listed modern service sectors as a key development priority for China. At the break of the key conference, the Ministry of Communication and the Zhejiang Provincial Government signed an agreement on jointly promoting logistics development in Zhejiang.
Yiwu is a trading hub known for its small commodity market, and logistics is vital for the future development of Yiwu. At present, Yiwu is now the world’s largest whole-sale base, and Yiwu is a transportation hub in China. The city is also one of the biggest and busiest logistics centers in Zhejiang.
Officials from the municipal transportation bureau told reporters that Yiwu has pioneered in providing a bigger platform for logistics companies. The cooperation between Zhejiang and the ministry means recognition of “great logistics” concept, and Yiwu can gain an upper hand by trying something new for a bright future.
