Recently, Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Provincial Government convened the “Ceremony for the 83rd Anniversary of the Founding of PLA & Teleconference and Videophone Conference for Naming and Commending the Double-support Exemplary City (County)”. At the conference, the host announced the decision for naming and commending the Double-support Exemplary City (County), in addition to awarding prizes to eminent double-support exemplary cities (counties), double-support exemplary units, and exemplary individuals on site. Yiwu City was again named as Zhejiang Province’s “Double-support Exemplary City”, and the Mayor of Yiwu City He Meihua, on behalf of Yiwu Municipal Committee and Yiwu Municipal Government, attended the conference at the Hangzhou Main Conference Site.
Historically, Yiwu City had the tradition of supporting the army and giving preferential treatment to families of soldiers, and supporting government and cherishing people, and its double-support work was stable and steady, with relationship between soldiers and residents staying in harmony. Since 1993, Yiwu City’s party committees, governments, and army garrisons of different levels always regarded the “Double-support Work” as the political advantage and important resources so that they strongly boosted the work. Over past years, Yiwu City persisted in the “Seek Further Knowledge by Enhancing Consciousness, Seek Consolidation by Laying the Foundation, and Seek Development by Creating Characteristics” development route to build up the “Army–Local Government Linkage” new mechanism and strongly support the national defense construction, with the result that it has established a firm “Army-Government and Army-Residents” relationship, and forcefully promoted its social & economic development and army modernization construction. By now, Yiwu City has been awarded “National Double-support Exemplary City” title for five consecutive times.
In April this year, the Provincial Double-support Exemplary City Examination Team inspected Yiwu City, and it gave full recognition to Yiwu City’s “Double-support Work”. According to the examination team, Yiwu City has accumulated valuable experiences and doings in the “Double-support Work”, and its “Support to Army” work was extremely steady, in addition to its extensive and in-depth promotion & education and strong support to the army construction. Moreover, Yiwu City earnestly put in place the “Special Care Policy”, and it has achieved remarkable performances in “Support Government and Care People” work. At the present day, the army and local government in Yiwu City offer support to and resolve hard buts for one other, and they work closely to build up the “Soldiers Care People, and People Support Soldiers” circumstance. To sum up, the relationship between the army and the government also between the army and the people in Yiwu City is favorable and harmonious.
