It was sunny after a recent snow in Beijing. At 10:30 a.m., the press conference for “China Yiwu Cultural Products Trade Fair 2010” which was promoted to a national exhibition was held at the Ministry of Culture. Over 50 domestic and overseas mainstream media institutions such as the Xinhua News Agency, People’s Daily, CCTV, China National Radio, Phoenix TV, Channel NewsAsia and KBS covered the press conference.
Liu Yuzhu, director of the Cultural Industry Department of the Ministry of Culture and Feng Bosheng, deputy secretary-general of Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government delivered addresses, Tian Yuyuan, deputy director of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture as well as municipal leaders such as He Meihua, Chen Xiuxian and Guo Kai were present. Chen Xianghong, deputy inspector of the General Office of the Ministry of Culture, presided over the press conference.
Liu said that it was a historical opportunity for the Ministry of Culture and Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government to jointly build Yiwu Fair into a national exhibition, and higher requirements were raised for the fair. He hoped that Yiwu Fair would seize the opportunity and renew efforts to grow into a competitive brand in the domestic and overseas cultural convention & exhibition industry, and that the successful experience of “Yiwu mode” would enlighten and provide a reference for other cultural exhibitions to jointly advance the vigorous development of China’s cultural exhibition industry.
Mayor He Meihua briefed the attendees on Yiwu’s economic and social development and preparations for Yiwu Fair 2010.
Yiwu is a prosperous, trendy and open trade city bringing together numerous foreign merchants to start business in such a harmonious environment. He said that Yiwu had been hailed as China’s most promising, most attractive and best convention & exhibition city with the vigorous development of the modern service industry and the constant optimization of the structure of the tertiary industry in recent years.
He said that Yiwu Fair had grown into an economic, international and distinctive cultural exhibition in over four years by its extensive international influence, unique market advantage, developed tourist commodities, rich convention & exhibition experience, top convention & exhibition facilities and modern convention & exhibition services. With the aim of “enhancing cultural essence and expanding the cultural industry” and the theme of “cultural product trade and cultural innovation development”, this year’s fair boasts more prominent commodity transaction characteristics, more remarkable international characteristics, a wider range of participating industries, richer exhibition and convention events and better exhibition and convention services compared to the previous editions. He added that great efforts should be made to build Yiwu Fair into an influential cultural industry exposition, cultural achievement presentation, cultural commodities fair and cultural development seminar to lay a more solid foundation for speeding up the construction of Yiwu International Small Commodities Convention & Exhibition Center and promote the prosperity of the cultural cause of Zhejiang and the country and the fast development of the cultural industry.
