On July 15, more than 10 pearl business households from Zhuji and Wuyi walked into Jinfuyuan Jewelry Building, and they submitted relevant operation certification materials to Chairman of Yiwu Pearl Industry Association Mr. Luo Xiaobin, in hopes of applying for booth in the newly incorporated Quality Jewelry Trading Zone. “Over past half month, lots of people came to reserve and enquire the booth, but only few of them acquired the qualification of entry in the wake of our strict evaluation”, said Luo Xiaobin gladly but disappointedly. Expand the Market Size in Favorable Circumstance The pearl industry is identified as a “traditional” and “burgeoning” force in Yiwu City. As to the “traditional”, the pearl industry has a time-honored history in Yiwu City. With respect to the “burgeoning”, Yiwu Pearl Industry Association was just founded at the end of April last year, and five months later, the Yiwu Jewelry Trading Center was opened to outside, which put an end to the scattered, blind and passive production & operation in Yiwu pearl industry. Since then, the pearl industry started to step on the “Normalized, Standardized, and Brand-oriented” road. “Over past years, the trading center’s limited space and high rental should be blamed for the industry’s laggard development and breakthrough”, Luo Xiaobin was quoted as saying. All told, original pearl trading center sitting in Changchun Community had only 50-plus booths, but number of business households in application was far higher than the booths. Needless to say, the booth rental fluctuated randomly and largely. “Leap-forward Development Depends on Huge Space”. In view of this, the industry association averted its attention to Jinfuyuan Jewelry Building, one street away from the International Commerce & Trade City Zone I. Under the support and care of relevant departments and through several surveys & discussions and frequent negotiations with the owner of Jinfuyuan Jewelry Building, the Yiwu Pearl Industry Association determined to relocate the trading center to B1 of the Jinfuyuan Jewelry Building at the end of June this year. Meanwhile, it joined hands with the jade and gold industries to rename Yiwu Pearl Trading center as Yiwu Quality Jewelry Trading Zone “International Commerce & Trade City’s market cluster, material flow, people flow, and strong radiating capacity contribute much to the industry’s development and prosperity”, noted Luo Xiaobin, who also pointed out that backed by such internationalized trading platform, the pearl industry’s market size was expected to become larger and larger, so as to achieve new leap-forward growth and culminate in the market pattern featuring “Production (Cultivation) in the Whole Nation, but Processing and Selling in Yiwu City”. Improve the Brand’s Connotation The newly incorporated Yiwu Quality Jewelry Trading Zone comprises more than 500 booths in total, and it has exquisitely arranged the pearl, jade, and gold businesses as per the “Specific Products Categorized into Specific Industry” principle. Over past half month, apart from few booths reserved for renowned enterprises in China, other booths have become “delicious cakes” for jewelry business households, and by now, more than 300 business households have signed the contract of entry. “Over past days, lots of business households jostled in the association office, but we did not accept all applicants”, said Luo Xiaobin. Yiwu Pearl Industry Association has made a strict and standardized qualification certification system, and it also planned to reserve optimal booths of the three zones for China’s renowned enterprises and large-scale business households, so as to make sure it will introduce quality merchants into the zone, for the purpose of improving the trading zone’s grade and scale. It is learned that business households that have signed the contract of entry include state-level brands like Grace Pearl, natural crystal and ocean pearl dealers from Brazil and Malaysia, jewelry processors and sellers from Hong Kong, and large-scale pearl & jade business households from eight provinces and regions like Jiangsu, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hunan, Fujian, and Gansu. Aside from foresaid business households, Shanxiahu Pearl and Dongting Aquaculture etc. also have the intention to settle in the zone. “Quality Jewelry Trading Zone has been newly improved in quantity, quality, location, and environment as compared to original pearl trading center”, said Luo Xiaobin. Yiwu Pearl Industry Association vows to cultivate the trading zone as pearl, jade, and gold centralization & decentralization and logistics center, brand exhibition & trading center, and jewelry culture communication & commercial tourism shopping center, in a bid to build up the product line featuring complete varieties, novel styles, and distinct price levels in the jewelry industry. Particularly in the pearl industry, upstream and downstream purchasers in the entire industry chain can complete the one-stop purchase in the trading zone.
