Yiwu Phenomenon – from Small Stalls to Global Market, a book by Wang Shuzu, the former deputy chairman of Tianjin People’s Congress, was released recently at the Yiwu party school. The author as well as Yiwu municipal leaders, including Huang Zhiping, He Meihua, Tong Xiangdi, Yang Linzhang, Chen Xiuxian, attended the launching ceremony, in addition to party school students and business delegates.
The book is a result of the author’s five visits to Yiwu, and Shi Guangsheng, the deputy director of finance and economic committee with the National People’s Congress, wrote a preface for the book. The book provides a unique perspective about the rise of Yiwu and offers many insightful views for Yiwu’s future development, and the book can also serve as a guidance book on how Yiwu can improve its international profile.
At the ceremony, Wang affectionately said that Yiwu is a microcosm of China's reform and opening up and is a great example to show the success of China's socialist market economy. Wang said he was very delighted to see what Yiwu has achieved and he hoped Yiwu can improve its management and internationalization further for greater prosperity.
Huang Zhiping, a standing member with the Jinhua Communist Party Committee and the party chief of Yiwu, thanked Wang for his book. Huang said Yiwu is currently at a critical stage of improving its international profile and moving up along the value chain, for which Yiwu leaders are in dire need of theoretical guidance and support. Huang said the book provides both practice references and theoretical explorations and has great value for Yiwu. He added that all municipal leaders and businessmen in Yiwu shall read the book.
