Cixi City is located at the eastern Zhejiang Province and on the verge of Hangzhou Bay. It links Zhenhai District and Jiangbei District of Ningbo City on the east and connects Yuyao City on the south. It is within 3002'- 3024' and 12102'- 12142'. The total area within the boundary of Cixi is 1,154 square kilometers (Both sea area and newly formed land after 1954 are not included in statistics.). The coastline is 77.56 km long in curve with a northward convex. Cixi enjoys a favorable natural condition and a temperate and humid climate throughout the year with distinct four seasons, which belongs to northern subtropical zone monsoon climate. Within the boundary of Cixi City, the southeast area is low hills with various trees and fruits. The middle and west areas are vast expanse of plain with rich and fertile land and rich special local products such as fruit and vegetables. The north area is Hangzhou Bay with 77 km long coastline, where there is rich tideland resource and recent years around 40,000 hectares tideland could be reclaimed for development. These are the richest land reserves in Zhejiang Province.
Cixi is the most developed areas in Chinese private economy. In 2004, there are more than 28,000 industrial enterprises in Cixi City, in which private enterprises account for 99.9%; a total of RMB 12.03 billion Yuan sales income is achieved, in which private enterprises achieve 99.4%; the total enterprises assets are RMB 63.1 billion Yuan, in which private enterprises account for 97%; and there are around 550,000 staff and workers in total, in which the employees of private enterprises account for 99.4%. The private economy occupies the leading position in Cixi economy absolutely and drives Cixi economy into a newly developed period of middle and later times of industrialization.
慈渓市は浙江省の東に位置し、北は杭州湾と瀕し、東は寧波鎮海区、江北区と隣接し、西、南は余姚市とつながり、北緯30°02’～30°24’と東経121°02’～121°42’の間に位置している。全市の総面積は1154平方キロメートル（海域含まず、1954年以降の新陸地も記入せず）、海岸線は北にアーチ形に突き出て、突き出し、長さは77.56キロだ。
慈渓市は自然に恵まれ、気候がいつも温和で湿り気があり、四季の区別ははっきりし、北の亜熱帯モンスーン気候区に属する。東南部は低い丘で、木や果物の種類が多い；中西部は広々とした平原で、土は肥沃で、特産物は豊富、果物や野菜類など農産物はたくさん産出している。北は「杭州湾」で、77キロもある海岸線を持ち、きわめて豊富な干潟資源が埋められ、近頃開発可能な干潟は4万ヘクタール近くあり、全省で土の予備土資源の最も待ち足りている地区だ。
慈渓市は中国民営経済最も発達している地域の一つだ。2004年、全市で工業企業2.8万社あまり、その中に、民営企業は99.9%を占めている。全市の工業販売所得は1203億元に達し、民営企業はその中の1180億元完成した。全市工場の総資産は631億元で、民営企業は97%を占めている；全市工業企業の従業員は55万人で、民営企業はその中の99.4%を占めている。民営経済は慈渓経済の中で、すでに主導的地位を占めて、そして慈渓の経済を動かして工業化の全く新しい発展段階に入る。
慈溪位于東海之濱，東離甯波60公裏，北距上海148公裏，西至杭州138公裏，是長江三角洲經濟圈南翼環杭州灣地區上海、杭州、甯波三大都市經濟金三角的中心，區位和交通優勢十分明顯。特別是杭州灣跨海大橋的建設，給慈溪帶來了千載難逢的曆史性機遇。2008年建成後，一座比舊金山金門跨海大橋長15倍的雙塔鋼筋混凝土斜拉橋将橫跨廣袤而洶湧的杭州灣海域，從此慈溪将一躍成爲連接上海、甯波兩大都市的“黃金節點”，融入滬、杭、甬2小時交通圈，這将極大提升慈溪在長三角城市群中的戰略地位。全市行政區域面積1154平方公裏，年末耕地面積65.28萬畝，戶籍總人口102.1萬，轄17個鎮、3個街道，共297個行政村、28個居委會、47個社區。市政府駐地浒山街道。
